One evening in 2011, while waiting in my office cab, I took a photo of light and shadows dancing across the wall.

I used to stand here everyday, mesmerized by the real-life, silent, black-and-white movie playing out.

It felt like light and shadows engaged in play, with not a care about the breathtaking beauty they were, not waiting or even needing permission to be exactly who they were in the moment.

It felt like permission to be. Like being held by something bigger than I could comprehend.

That stayed with me.

So did the image.

A painting now... A sanctuary revisited. Relived.
